[edit] Project History
Sorrow of Seven, also sometimes listed as So7, was an early moniker for Christian techno-rock band Aleixa.
The project was initially a one-man act comprised of Kevin "131" Guitierrez. Vocalist Laurel Snapper joined two years later, and the project remained a duo until the formation of Aleixa in 1994.
Unlike the better-known Aleixa, Sorrow of Seven was an underground project whose only recordings were a series of demo cassettes.
Aside from Laurel's powerful vocals, Sorrow of Seven featured a somewhat mellower sound than its sucessor. Although a few songs featured an edgy, electro-industrial vibe, most material could be described as female-fronted synth-pop reminiscent of early Eurythmics and Annie Lennox's solo work. Two songs on the second demo, Red, even incorporated a dreamy, ambient sound similar to Enya.
Kevin and Laurel swtiched to a harder, guitar-driven industrial rock sound on the second version of their final demo, Sorrow of Seven - Amber v.2. They would later re-record several earlier songs with this new sound for the debut as Aleixa, Honey Lake.
